Abstract

This article is part of an investigation about the difficulties presented when learning Spanish by students in the Higher Distance Education (EMSAD) 315 in the community of "Iwiltic" Municipality of San Juan Cancuc Chiapas, who speak a Tseltal indigenous language.

The teachers who teach classes do not have knowledge of their Tzeltal language, nor do they develop the habit of writing and reading in their own language, so they develop their knowledge of Spanish in formal education.

Its purpose is to identify the difficulties presented by students who speak the Tseltal language to learn Spanish, to propose some didactic strategies that favor the acquisition of a second language and thereby contribute to the better academic performance of students in high school.
