Abstract

Abstract— The writing is part of the doctoral thesis research "Experiences of university professors in the design of two curricula by competencies"; In this article the polysemic meaning of the Educational Model (ME) concept is analyzed, determining a relevant concept for the execution of the investigation, in the same way a panoramic of the types of Educational Models is visualized in order to grant elements for the distinction , giving way to the explanation of the Educational Model based on the competency approach, which nowadays are diverse countries that have considered it because it is presented as a paradigm of education of the XXI Century. However, in order to get closer to what is related to the ME, in the first moment of the document, the process by which education has passed for recognition in society is described.
