Abstract

The crime of feminicide is one of the most severely punished antisocial conducts in our country, as its an extreme form of violence against women, the product of continuous discrimination and harassment against their dignity and rights, which is it has fought, and tried to eradicate, increasing comprehensive protection for them, through harsh penalties aimed at their reduction.

Situation has historically and continuously resulted in the strengthening of the legal framework for women's human rights, through the introduction of the crime of femicide, which is strictly punished in our country, mainly in states such as Veracruz, Morelos, Aguascalientes, Chihuahua, Jalisco, where anyone found guilty of this crime will be liable to a prison sentence of up to 70 years and will be sentenced to life imprisonment, as some jurisdictions call it.

Here I deppen the importance of reflecting on the subject of feminicide in Mexico, especially in Chiapas, and assess the treatment that local criminal policy has given to the issue over time. In this way we will also explore the elements of the criminal offence and the targets at whom its protection is aimed, including trans women, a population that has remained on the margins, in our opinion, of the legislative efforts made in this regard”.
