Abstract

As a field of emerging knowledge, Regional Studies have the characteristic of converging diverse disciplines with the objective of addressing economic, political, cultural, historical, social and educational issues, among others.

The approach of regional studies to educational problems will depend in the first instance on the process of regionalization, that is, the delimitation that is made for the construction of the object of study. The present work aims to present a way of regionalization based on the characteristics that identify and differentiate the epistemic communities with respect to others, as a way of approaching the investigation of educational research, or regarding the training of educational researchers.

As a methodological proposal, the Epistemic Region will situate the agents of the educational process in relation to the generation of knowledge and the discursive frameworks from which they are formed in the task of educational research.
